Paris Coffee Shop / Nomade Cafe

This Paris coffee shop has a chill atmosphere and resident tattoo artist

When tattoo artist Pia Almondy and her partner returned to Paris from extensive travels through Asia and South America the pair decided to open a business where each could express their passion: tattoo for her and specialty coffee for him.

The result is Nomade Cafe in the 11th arrondissement, a light and bright space in a former furniture workshop that fast became the new hot spot in the district to sip a latte accompanied by a gluten-free pastry from L’Atelier des Lilas in a chill atmosphere: Berber carpets, a cosy seating area with vintage mid-century sofa and armchairs, macrame hangings, travel photographs, minimalist  lighting and surprise touches such a bold wall mural and patterned tiles connecting the floor and base of the counter.

Also on the menu: tartines of the day and the season, avocado toast, carrot cake and cookies. It’s a perfect morning stop-off with a laptop in tow for a combo of a filter coffee, pressed juice (depending on what’s in season from the fruit vendor across the street), and a croissant or pain au chocolat. Finally,  there’s more than coffee, with speciality teas, soya alternatives, plus homemade citronnade.

As for the tattoos, Pia hosts by appointment in her workshop at the back. Her speciality? Hands, hearts, plants and feminine motifs with a minimalist tracing.

Nomade Cafe’s relaxed boho vibe and free wi-fi makes it a popular Paris coffee shop with young students, travellers and digital nomads.

Nomade Cafe, 8 rue Paul Bert, 75011 Paris, France. Wed – Sat 10am – 6pm, Sun 10am – 4pm.
