Take a detour to New Zealand at this Kiwi-inspired cafe in Sheffield
Busy searching “Sheffield cafe near me”? There’s more to Sheffield these days than steel. An independent cafe culture is making waves over the Peaks and the Pennines, and doesn’t look to be slowing down any time soon.
Kia ora (welcome) to Tamper Coffee Sellers Wheel for a little bit of relaxed Kiwi cafe culture within a white-washed 19th century former silversmith in the heart of Sheffield’s cultural industries precinct.
Tucked beneath a red brick vaulted ceiling, Tamper Coffee Sellers Wheel, offers a distinctive design characterised by exposed brick walls and soffits, rustic furniture, and subtle New Zealand references, including colourful handpainted “portraits” of New Zealand native birds (including the kiwi). The cafe’s unique fusion of industrial aesthetics and warm Kiwi-inspired elements creates an inviting and eclectic atmosphere, providing patrons with a cosy haven to enjoy their coffee in the heart of Sheffield.
Established by New Zealand born Jonathan Perry, both the intimate coffee counter at Westfield Terrace, and the more food orientated Sellers Wheel, offer a slice of Kiwi cafe culture, where you’re sure to find something tasty. Consistently voted as one of the best brunch spots in the city, Tamper not only serves great coffee, but it also has a diverse food menu with both vegan and vegetarian options.
With regularly rotating single origins on filter and not one but two-house blends, it’s definitely a must for those who love a caffeine hit, but for Perry, the menu is just as important. Share a veggie Antipasti Platter, Ginger Beer Battered Plaice Fingers with a Sriracha crème fraiche, and chilli coriander falafel with roasted tomato hummus. You’ll have to book to get a seat on one of the high stooled tables looking across the small yard, where you can sip an aperitif beforehand.
So search “Sheffield cafe near me” when in town and head for this Kiwi cuisine-inspired coffee house. It’s a Sheffield staple and boasts a great environment to relax, hang out, work, or simply enjoy your signature drink.
