Willoughby Cafe’s unique Walter Burley Griffin-designed incinerator is home to the The Incinerator Cafe, a heritage building that has been remodeled and equipped with a wood-fired oven as a tribute to the structure’s original use. The cafe has chef Graeme Nutt (formerly of Melbourne’s The Duchess of Spotswood and Albert Park Hotel) in the kitchen and sells coffee by The Grounds of Alexandria.
Jonathan Slingo, the owner and man behind the makeover, hired acme design to create an interior that complements the incinerator’s deco style, which was one of 12 created by Burley Griffin in the 1930s.
