Lidi Coffee is located on Rusa Street, Makassar City, South Sulawesi. This 400 m2 building used to be a building with the function of practicing doctors and pharmacies. This building has not been used since the pandemic, around 2020 This building was redesigned and renovated in 2022, with the transfer of the function of the building from a doctor’s and pharmacy practice to a coffee shop.

Adaptive Reuse Cafe Concept

The application of the Adaptive Reuse concept is the main choice in the re-design process of this building. The Adaptive Reuse concept is an aesthetic process that adapts old buildings to use new functions while maintaining their historical features. The shape and layout of the building have not been changed at all, small changes are only found in the front area, the addition of a bench that extends parallel to the planter box as the Lidi Coffee planting area appears as an oasis in the middle of Makassar City, focusing on selling coffee and food, as well as a pleasant contemplation space during the day and a social space after work.
