Apart from its rich cultural heritage and world-renowned architecture, Naples is known for its cafe culture. In fact, there’s not a block in the city without a cafe so if you’re searching Naples cafes near me while you’re in this fascinating city you’ll be spoiled for choice.
Located on a narrow, stone-flagged street in the heart of the historic quarter, Centrale del Caffe is a traditional espresso bar established in 1959 that offers a quintessential Naples coffee culture experience. Prop yourself at the zinc-topped bar and watch the baristas operate the levers of the hand-operated espresso machine, drink your complimentary glass of water to cleanse the palate, then indulge in a rich and strong shot of espresso served in a heated ceramic cup.

A quintessential espresso bar experience in the historic quarter of Naples
The cosy, compact interior features timber floors and a low, timber beamed ceiling with an L-shaped counter faced with timber offcuts. Opposite the counter is a long banquette with small tables and original timber chairs. A shelf above the banquette displays signage and framed illustrations dating back to the cafe’s 1950s origins.
A small menu features local pastries (including classic Naples sfogliatella), mini pizzas and panini and if you arrive later in the day, instead of a coffee you might like to indulge in an aperitif, glass of local wine or grappe.
If you are searching Naples cafes near me when in town, be sure to check out this little gem.
