Past a long counter at the entrance, most seating is out the back in a cosy indoor space followed by a shady open courtyard overhung by wrought iron balconies. A perfect spot to take time out while exploring the streets of bohemian Barranco.
The Barranco district is known as the SoHo of Lima, Peru. It’s full of renowned art galleries and museums, boutiques and trendy coffee shops, housed in the former colonial mansions of Lima’s elite. Anywhere you turn, you’ll see art on the street, live music and hip bars. The Barranco neighbourhood is situated along the coastal cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, making it the prime spot to view Lima’s spectacular sunsets.
Barranco has earned a reputation as the bohemian district of Lima because of its bright buildings, amazing street art, and charming streets. It’s also home to Lima’s best bars and some of its best restaurants and definitely some of the best cafes.
Drinking some delicious and fresh Peruvian coffee at one of Barranco’s many cafes is a must. The aroma of freshly ground coffee is impregnated in the neighbourhood’s DNA and the experience of tasting its greatest varieties from diverse communities throughout the country is very special indeed.
Barranco is situated along the Pacific Coast in Lima, sandwiched between Lima’s upscale Miraflores district to the north and Chorrillos to the south. The little neighbourhood is so small that you might just miss it, but don’t let that happen. With beach access, a beautiful bridge and plaza, there’s no other place to be in Lima.
